Amisulpride, Olanzapine, Paliperidone, Quetiapine, Risperidone, Sertindole, Sulpiride, Ziprasidone, Zotepine, Clozapine.

Significantly lower propensity to produce EPSE and cause sustained hyperpolactinemia at clinically effective doses

Various modes of action, cf. typicals ? D2/5HT (no longer supported).

Less EPSEs than first generation, modestly increased efficacy with olazapine, marked increased efficacy with clozapine.

Previously thought to be superior for negative symptoms, however research has shown that this is not the case.

Generally - less EPSE but higher incidence of metabolic side effects than ‘typicals’ but exceptions- aripiprazole.
